Junior Tough Guy & Gal Challenge

Online entries open 01st February 2026 and close 9am 21st August 2026.
School group entries: $30.00 per person
Online entries: $32.50 per person
On the day entries: $35.00 per person

Children can either enter through their school, where the teacher takes charge of the entry process with Event Promotions directly, or you can enter your child online yourself (please check if your school is entering a group before entering your child online otherwise they may end up being entered twice!).

OPTION 1 – SCHOOL GROUP ENTRY

Once you know the total number of competitors please email info@eventpromotions.co.nz and advise your School Name, which venue/date you will be attending and your confirmed number of competitors. You will then receive an Excel Spreadsheet with a bulk waiver for you to fill in with all of your student’s details. Once this excel spreadsheet has been received your students will be entered into the event.

PLEASE NOTE: All of the fields on the spreadsheet template must be filled in for each student, otherwise it will be sent back to you for correction. Google Docs or other online format templates will NOT be accepted.

Payment and Entry Policy for School Groups
Entry numbers are limited! We will be working on a first in first serve basis. Entries will ONLY be confirmed once we have received your completed school group spreadsheet with signed waiver and completed entrant fields. No entries can be confirmed until we have ALL of this information. To avoid the disappointment of missing out please make sure you get your entries in at least three weeks before the event date. All school group invoices will be sent to schools AFTER each event to allow for corrections or additional administrative costs.

OPTION 2 – INDIVIDUAL ONLINE ENTRY

Parents/caregivers can enter and pay for their children online. There is a question section where they must put in their school name and tick a box to say if the Teacher or Parent will be picking up the race number on the day of the event. As long as they correctly enter the school name and tick the box to say the Teacher will collect the race number then we are able to have everything waiting for you to pick up from registration on the morning of the event.

9.30 – 10.30am: Registration and late entries
11.00am: Wave starts of approx 80 children to spread everyone out (Years 7-8, Years 5-6, Years 3-4)
12.45pm: Prize-giving

Registration: Lakes Ranch, 79 Rotokawau Rd, Owhata, Rotorua. Registration in big barn.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy
ALL withdrawals MUST be notified to info@eventpromotions.co.nz by 9am, 7 days prior to online entries closing. These withdrawals will receive their entry fee refund, minus a $10.00 administrative/booking fee per competitor. Any withdrawals notified after this time will not be entitled to a refund.

In the case of a natural disaster, extreme or dangerous weather situation, “Act of God” conditions, or other uncontrollable factors causing the cancellation of the event, entry fees will not be refunded.

Transfer Policy
All person to person transfers between the same entry type (event distance) MUST be made by 9:00am, 14 days prior to the event, no exceptions. After this date they must be made at the event day registrations and MUST be made between the same entry type (event distance).

Transferring to a different entry type (event distance) can be done up to 14 days prior to the event. After this, they must be done at the event day registration.

You cannot transfer an entry to another event, or following year under any circumstances.

IMPORTANT NOTE! There are NO DOGS allowed at any of our events. Our event venues are on private land that have wildlife and/or domestic animals. Please leave them at home!

Ankle Biters | approx. 1.5km course | School years 3–4
Little Nippers | approx. 3km course | School years 5–6
Big Rascals | approx. 3km course | School years 7–8

Finishers Medals
Every competitor that enters into any of the Junior Tough Guy and Gal events will receive a stunning finishers medal, plus a downloadable certificate is available.

Merit Prizes
No merit prizes will be awarded at these events.

Spot Prizes
Awesome spot prizes will be randomly drawn at prize-giving. You must be present at prize-giving to collect your spot prize.

Brightest School Award
We will be awarding a certificate and minor spot prize to the ‘Brightest School’ during prize-giving at the end of each event day. Dress up in your brightest or most creative dress ups for the Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge with your school group and you could win!

Age Limit
The Junior is for primary and intermediate schools school years 3 to 8.

Limited numbers
Each event has limited places available, so make sure you enter early to avoid disappointment as these events sell out! We will advise on the website when an event sells out.

What to wear
It is compulsory to wear covered in shoes during the event. You will get wet and muddy. A dry set of clothing, beanie and jacket is highly recommended following your event. Football or Rugby boots with moulded studs are acceptable, running spikes or boots with aluminium studs are not permitted.

Personalised Bib Numbers
You must have entered the event by 14th August if you would like your name on your race bib.

Shower and Parking
Hot showers, parking and first aid support are included in your entry fee.

Food and Drinks
Hot food and beverages will be available from the venue for purchase – please bring cash as most places will not have reliable eftpos facilities.

Photos
There are no official event photos for the Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge. Please feel free to take your own photos.
